Tom Anderson, Ph.D.

Tom Anderson, Ph.D. began working for the Department of Art Education at Florida State University in 1982, after teaching in the public schools in Oregon and working as a commercial artist in Chicago. The longest serving member of the Department, Tom’s long-term interests are art criticism and the theory of art, the social foundations of art and education, and how art and education can contribute to social justice and environmental sustainability.

Research Interests: Aesthetics and art criticism; social foundations of art and education; ethnographic, critically grounded, and philosophical research methods; visual culture art education.
