MEX Doctoral Student Anthony Woodruff Awarded Kentucky Special Needs Art Educator of the Year Award

Published November 13, 2017

FSU Museum Education and Visitor-Centered Exhibitions (MEX) Doctoral student and Easter Seals West Kentucky Art Director Anthony Woodruff attended and presented at the Kentucky Art Education (KAEA) Conference at Thomas More College in Northern Kentucky.

His presentation focused on the step-by-step development of large fundraising events and strategies for reaching out to the community through art education. For instance, Woodruff discussed the Easter Seals West Kentucky Adult Services Center Art Program’s annual “HeArt and Soul Art Celebration and Auction”, which raised over $13,000 for the art education program. The presentation also covered collaborative and inclusive art education lessons for students with disabilities.

During the conference, Dr. Ilona Szekely, President of KAEA and Professor of Art Education at Eastern Kentucky University, presented Woodruff with the Kentucky Special Needs Art Educator of the Year award! This award recognizes Woodruff as a KAEA member who has brought distinction to the profession of special-needs art education through an exceptional and continuous record of achievement, significantly and positively impacting students with disabilities and special needs.

Congratulations, Anthony, for this exceptional and outstanding achievement!
