Art Education Presents “Waging Peace! At The Plant Workshop: Florindingers for Peace”

Published March 22, 2018

The Department of Art Education invites you to attend the Waging Peace! At The Plant Workshop “Florindingers for Peace,” hosted by author/artist team Gordon Halleck and Perdita Ross.

Gordon is a writer of short stories and poems. He enjoys storytelling and working with kids. Gordon wanted to make imaginary creatures and write a story about them. “Floridingers” are hybrid characters combined together from three or more Florida species. This Floridinger picture book series is about individuality, acceptance, and diversity. Creative thinking solves problems and these characters like to work together by using their special skills to support each other as they learn new things and have new adventures.

The workshop will take place on Saturday, April 7th, 2018, at 11:00am, and will be available for ages 5 and up.

During this workshop, Gordon will read a Floridinger story out loud and at the end of the story, Perdita will give everyone art supplies with a worksheet and explain how to use it. This is a fun opportunity to use your skills and imagination to make your own Floridinger character. In the same way that each of us is special, our character creations will be unique too. Every person who makes a new character helps to expand the members in the Floridinger family. You can post yours on the Floridinger Facebook Page!

Join us for a Floridinger story so we can all be a part of the adventure and actively wage peace together!
