FSU Art Therapy Association Attends SportsAbility

Published April 18, 2018
The Florida State University Art Therapy Association (FSI-ATA) attended the 28th Annual SportsAbility of the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association.  The annual SportsAbility event was held at Tallahassee Community College on April 12th to the 14th and is the premier event of the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA), which advocates for enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by promoting active living.

FSU-ATA was given the opportunity to table at the event and provided a variety of art experiences for visitors to enjoy.

FSU-ATA President Amanda Schattie weighed in on ATA’s involvement:

We ran 4 different art activities for attendees: creating marble paintings, signing/decorating a large thank you card, creating sand mandalas, and creating a “medal” using construction paper and ribbon or fabric to celebrate something they are proud of. We had a lot of participants stop by and the marble painting was the most popular activity.

Thank you to SportsAbility for allowing FSU-ATA to participate and provide such an enjoyable experience at the event!
