Opportunity for Assistant Professor of Art at California State University:

Tenure- track Position Opening

POSITION:

Assistant Professor of Art (Illustration/ Animation)

EFFECTIVE DATE:

August 18, 2014 (Fall Semester)

 

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MFA in Studio Art, or official notification of the completion of the degree by August 1, 2014, or equivalent record of extraordinary professional achievement.
  • Demonstrated strong skills in the image-making areas of drawing, painting, illustration as related to the field of animation and demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles of animation.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both digital and non-digital methods and a familiarity with computer applications related to art and animation.
  • Commitment to and/or expertise teaching diverse student population.

 

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Evidence of previous teaching experience at the college level and an outstanding record of nationally recognized professional achievement.
  • Demonstrated image-making skills with an emphasis on one or more of the following: Experimental Animation (including digital applications), Visual Development, and/or pre-production art.
  • Other relevant areas of expertise may include character design, layout, background painting, storyboarding, 3D Modeling. Candidate must demonstrate a strong visual imagination.

 

DUTIES:

  • Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level courses in the illustration/animation program.
  • Program coordination duties include:
    • collaborate with faculty in the ongoing development of the animation track which provides a broad range of animation experiences.
    • Supervise part-time faculty,
    • act as a program liaison with professionals in the field of animation and;
    • other responsibilities  include student advising , serving as Program Head on a rotating basis, involvement in student activities, curriculum development, committee work, service to the School of Art, college, university and community, and professional creative development.
