Art Education Program Produces High Job Placement Rates

Published September 27, 2013

Two years ago the 5-year Art Education program was created, allowing students to achieve teaching certification as well as a combined degree in Studio Art (BA or BFA) and an MS in Art Education. Looking at the past two years of graduates, 90% of the art education program completers who were seeking teaching jobs were hired within a semester after graduation.. Keeping in mind too, that of the graduating classes, many choose to pursue further continuing education instead of delving straight into the workforce.

A list of these graduates and their current work locations includes:

Cassandra Sperow (Alta Vista Elementary, Sarasota County Schools, FL)

Michael Sperow (Alta Vista Elementary, Sarasota County Schools, FL)

Brittany Fike (Largo Middle School, Pinellas County Schools, FL)

Lizz Jensen (Campbell Park Elementary, Pinellas County Schools, FL)

Brittany Dean (Alfred I Dupont Middle School, Duval County Schools, FL)

Shannon Miler (Fort Caroline Elementary School, Duval County Schools, FL)

Antwanette Neal (Deltona Middle School, Volusia County Schools, FL)

Kate Bussey (Bridges Preparatory School, Beaufort County School District, South Carolina)
