Department of Art Education Welcomes Dr. Barbara Parker Bell

Published January 10, 2017

The FSU Department of Art Education would like to warmly welcome the new director of the FSU Masters Art Therapy Program, Dr. Barbara Parker-Bell. Dr. Barbara Parker-Bell is an art therapy educator, clinician, and active member of the international and national professional art therapy community. Just recently, she returned from her tenure in Siberia as she served as a Fulbright Scholar. Her focused involvement aided the community in understanding and supporting the development of art therapy in the Russian Federation.

Dr. Parker-Bell’s interests include Art Therapy and Art Therapy Training in the Russian Federation, Art Therapy and Older Adults in the Museum Setting, Art Therapy and Cognitive Therapy Approaches with Adults and Children, and Dementia Caregiver Experiences/Caregiver Satisfaction and Retention.

When requested to provide a comment, Dr. Parker-Bell stated:

I’m very happy to be here. Just a little disappointed that it’s just as cold as Siberia!

We are excited to have Dr. Parker-Bell on our team as the new Director of Florida State University’s graduate level Art Therapy program. We are assured that her experience and expertise will contribute to the growth of the department!
