Presenting the FSU Department of Art Education’s Fall 2017 Mural Project!

The FSU Department of Art Education would like to invite the Tallahassee community to take part in a mural project beginning October 14th through October 28th. Join us in this exciting opportunity to leave your mark on the Tallahassee community!

The mural will be located on the side wall of the AMWAT Moving Warehouse Storage building on 319 Ross Road. The design was created by Jordyn Dooley, a second year Art Therapy student. Her inspiration for the painting, called “Tallahassee on the Move”, is the transition from the past to present day of the Tallahassee area where the local business AMWAT was built, which has now become a major moving enterprise. Starting on the left side of the painting, there is a lighthouse which represents the beginning of the Spanish settlement at St. Marks, which then transitioned to a hub of industry and became home to the first railway in Florida. On the right side of the painting there is a cyclist representing how Tallahassee is riding into the future, which is being painted by the present.

Students and educators from the Department of Art Education will be present to assist the community with painting the mural. This event is free and all painting materials are provided! Please keep in mind that the site becomes very hot during the day, so please bring water, sunscreen, hats, and snacks if needed.

Painting hours will be between 9am – 8pm but please check the event Facebook page for updates. All ages and skill levels are welcome!
