FSU Department of Art Education Celebrates Dr. Marcia Rosal

Florida State University’s Department of Art Education recently held a warm reception honoring Dr. Marcia Rosal who will retire December 2016. The evening kicked off with a slideshow of photographs and reflections sent in by alumni friends, family, students and colleagues.
The legend, the big cheese, the super woman of Art Therapy!!! I feel so blessed to have been one of the lucky ones that was able to obtain some of her wisdom.

Department of Art Education Chair, Dr. Dave Gussak, FSU College of Social Work Dean Emeritus, Nick Mazza, Art Therapy alum, Dr. Carolyn Brown Treadon and College of Fine Arts Dean Peter Weishar also contributed with a few of their own reflections.

Marcia L. Rosal Fund for Art Therapy
The event closed with an exciting announcement from Dr. Dave Gussak regarding a new fund created by Florida State University in Marcia’s honor. This is the first funt at FSU to support Art Therapy! Student research, conference travel, and merit-based awards are examples of important needs that will be fulfilled through private support directed toward this fund. Please make a gift in honor of Dr. Marcia L. Rosal – directions are listed below!
I have been teaching art therapy students for 34 years and I feel like each student is like a gift. I have learned so much from all of you collectively and individually. Working with students is the part of the job I will really miss. Thanks to all of you who are here this evening and I am reflecting on those who are not.
