This year, the Florida State University (FSU) Art Education Program is pairing up with The Plant to offer free art classes to the community at an event called Kid Empowerment Day. FSU Art Education students in the 5-year program will be working with Plant volunteers to design and offer art activities for all ages.
Kid Empowerment Day will be held on Saturday, Sep 17, 2016, from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at The Plant. The Plant is a non-profit, zero-budget facility ran strictly by volunteers. The event is free, but donations are accepted at the door. Families are are encouraged to bring a finger-food snack or food item to share. It is suggested that attendees bring a smock or work-shirt to participate in messier activities.
Those attending have the opportunity to create art as a group to highlight love, family, sharing, and community. Attendees can also look forward to making a pendulum painting, foam block printing, multi-media explorations with leaves, and much more.
Kid Empowerment Day is a monthly event that will also be held on October 15, 2016, and November 19, 2016, so mark your calendar! Stay tuned for the Spring 2017 schedule.
