Mask Making project with FSU Veterans

Art Therapy Students Rachel Mims and Hillary Kern facilitate mask-making activity for FSU Veterans.

On Friday June 20th, 2014, the Student Veterans from the FSU Collegiate Veterans Association visited the art therapy program to attend a mask-making workshop facilitated by art therapy graduate student Rachel Mims and funded by the FSU Veterans Center. Art Therapy students Hillary Kern, Meredith McMackin, and Lorelei Voronin assisted in facilitating the workshop.

 

Student veterans were taught how to make plaster masks. They were then paired up so that they could make masks for each other:

After working together to create to molds, student veterans were then able to create whatever shape mask they desired.

The student veterans enjoy this opportunity to spend time together creating art via a media with which they had no prior experience.
