MEX Ringling Internship

Published October 12, 2015
The Museum Education and Visitors Studies (MEX) program just sent its first students to the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art this semester! The MEX program incorporates a semester-long internship at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida, for second-year students in the program. This year, MEX students Victoria Eudy, Aja Roche, Sarah Gladwin, Susan Mann, and Maghan Stone began their Visitor Studies course at the museum from September 4-5, 2015.

During those initial days, the students gained a first-hand look at the inner workings of the museum. Elisa Hansen, the head of library services at Ringling, gave the Visitor Studies class a tour of the library’s resources. This included John Ringling’s personal rare book collection!

Maureen Zaremba, Curator of Education, and Sarah Cartwright, Grants Coordinator, gave the students background information and plan of action for the semester’s Visitor Studies class. The students’ primary focus was on the Ringling’s upcoming exhibition: Royal Taste: The Art of Princely Courts in Fifteenth-Century China.Along with this orientation came a welcome reception for the Visitor Studies students and MEX interns. The Ringling Director, Steven High, hosted the reception. Also in attendance were curatorial, education, and development staff members.

As of now, MEX students Victoria Eudy and Maghan Stone have taken residence in Sarasota to complete their internships.
