The Department of Art Education invites you to participate in the Waging Peace! at The Plant Project, an upcoming and promising artistic community collaboration.
Hosted by The Plant Arts Center, in conjunction with The FSU Museum of Fine Arts’ 2018 Waging Peace Exhibition, the City of Tallahassee, and Leon County Schools, the Waging Peace! at The Plant Project will consist of collaborative art making workshops focused on the theme of Waging Peace. By encouraging active engagement and conscientiousness regarding the pursuit of peace, it intends to challenge individuals to strive and work mindfully towards a balanced culture and environment through the arts and the process of art making.
Through a series of workshops, the Waging Peace! at The Plant Project aims to facilitate discussion about the theme of peace while allowing community members to network with local creatives and organizations. Waging Peace supports diversity, viewing art as multidisciplinary, and strives to include visual arts, music, dance, theater, film, poetry, literature, spoken word performances, landscape or horticultural arts, or other creative actions not otherwise specified.
For those interested in participating, the first workshop planning meeting will be at The Plant on Monday, October 23rd at 4pm. It will include brainstorming, envisioning, and sharing ideas inclusive of various talks, artforms, processes, materials needed, funding, timeline, marketing/promotion, solicitation of other participants, among others. Through the process of the meeting, roles of participants will be determined and ideas for talks, actions, and workshops will be suggested. Six art talks, actions, and/or art-making workshops will be developed, and each participant will be asked to commit to at least three of these to lead and/or participate in.
