The Department of Art Education is excited to welcome visiting student researcher, Mauren Teuber, to Florida State University. Mauren was selected into the Fulbright Foreign Student Program and will be attending classes full time for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters as part of her home institution’s doctorate research program.
Mauren is currently a doctoral student studying at the Universidade Federal do Paraná (Paraná Federal University), located in Curitiba, Brazil. Her research is circumscribed in the field of didactics, specifically the teaching and teaching methods of Art.
While in Brazil, Mauren spent several years in the education system as an art educator, exhibition leader, presenter, and researcher. Mauren has also contributed to several textbooks for elementary, middle school, and high school populations, and has earned the 54th Jabuti Award for her textbooks in 2012.
Throughout the next year in working with the Department, Mauren aims to explore and possibly expand the current knowledge regarding the relationship between teaching materials and teacher training. Her research investigates techniques of American art education teachers and compares the production of their teaching materials with data collected from Brazilian basic education teachers. It is with open arms that we welcome Mauren Teuber to the Florida State University’s Department of Art Education.
