The Florida State University (FSU) Department of Art Education would like to warmly welcome Dr. Rachel Fendler to the university!
Dr. Rachel Fendler
Dr. Fendler joins the university as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art Education. Dr. Fendler received her B.A. in Art History from Smith College in Massachusetts, before moving to Spain for graduate school. At the University of Barcelona she earned her M.A. in Visual Studies and completed her Ph.D. in Visual Arts and Education in July of 2015. While in Barcelona, she collaborated with the art academy Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design, teaching and providing professional development to the faculty. Dr. Fendler also developed projects with institutions such as the Joan Miró Foundation and the Young Artist’s Gallery (Sala Jove).
Rachel is a reviewer for the International Journal of Education Through Art and is a member of NAEA, AERA and InSEA. She is also on the scientific committee for the conference Arts-based and Artistic Research, which is held annually. She has published creative and scholarly articles on topics related to youth visual culture, arts-based research and educational ethnography, in both English and Spanish.
