The Art Education Department is excited to welcome Dr. Wen Guo as the newest addition to the faculty in the Arts Administration program. Dr. Guo received her doctoral degree in Cultural Policy and Arts Administration from Ohio State University and has an extensive background in studying a broad array of topics in arts administration and cultural policy.

Her research interests include arts policy networks, career development in the arts, community engagement of arts organizations, and teaching and learning in arts administration. Dr. Guo’s scholarly articles have been published in prestigious journals such as Cultural Trends, Review of Policy Research, the Journal of Arts Management, Law, and Society, Studies in Art Education, Artivate: A Journal of Entrepreneurship in the Arts, and the American Journal of Arts Management, among others. She is also a research fellow of the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project and a panel reviewer for the arts research grant of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Dr. Guo’s expertise and experience will bring valuable insights to the Arts Administration program at Florida State University. She currently serves as an editorial board member of the American Journal of Arts Management and a board member of the International Conference of Social Theory, Politics, and the Arts.

When asked how she plans to impact the community outside of FSU, Dr. Guo says:

As a scholar specializing in arts administration and cultural policy, my research focuses on elucidating the ways in which the arts and their creators can significantly contribute to the social, cultural, and economic enrichment and equity of diverse communities. Furthermore, I view my role as an educator, guiding the next generation of arts leaders, both present and future, who will shape the landscape of artistic institutions beyond FSU’s campus. I believe my research and teaching expertise in arts administration and cultural policy can facilitate informed decision-making, shaping inclusive policies, advocate for the cultural sector, and foster partnerships across academic disciplines and professional sectors. I also hope my research work on social inclusion in museums can help foster a sense of belonging for Asian immigrants in cultural venues.

Apart from her academic pursuits, Dr. Guo enjoys spending time with her two sweet cats and a toddler boy. If you need advice on model trains for Christmas, Dr. Guo is the person to contact!

We are thrilled to have Dr. Guo join our faculty and look forward to the contributions she will make to our students and the field of arts administration.
