Casey Barlow

Casey Barlow is an art therapist with the Florida State University/Florida Department of Corrections Art Therapy in Prisons Program. She provides individual and group art therapy services to individuals incarcerated at both male and female institutions. While a graduate student, she served practicum placements in a level V male prison, a forensic state hospital, and a residential substance abuse treatment facility. Upon graduation, she accepted a position with the mental health team at a maximum-security women’s prison. As a clinical art therapist, Ms. Barlow has spent several years providing client-centered art therapy and dialectical behavior therapy to incarcerated adults with severe and persistent mental illness, especially individuals with a significant history of trauma. She serves as an instrumental member of the inmates’ Individualized Education Program and clinical treatment teams. Additionally, she works as a liaison between the Program Director and the local prison staff within her region.
