Arts Administration Ph. D. Program
At Florida State University, students can pursue a Ph.D. in Art Education with a major in Arts Administration. Arts administration is the dynamic study of the integration of nonprofit leadership within all types of cultural organizations. As the oldest degree of its kind in Florida, the Department of Art Education has awarded degrees in Arts Administration since 1984. Program Overview
The doctoral degree option is for individuals interested in high level scholarly research. The purpose of the Ph. D. in Art Education with a major in Arts Administration is to encourage students to make significant contributions to the body of knowledge related to arts administration. This degree is more than just coursework, it is focused on research and theory with the goal of becoming an expert in the field. Students are supported in their efforts to investigate and advance understanding related to innovative applications of arts administration research, based on individual student interests. Many degree recipients of the doctoral degree are now faculty in colleges and universities all over the world, leading and serving the profession of arts administration in meaningful ways.

Structure
- This is a residential program, and students take face-to-face classes on FSU’s main campus.
- A minimum 36 hours of graduate level coursework
- A minimum of 24 hours of dissertation hours
- The degree typically takes 4-6 years to complete
