Art Education
Our graduate programs provide a rigorous and individualized learning experience as students work towards one of our four specialized degree options. With over a 70 year history, we believe in the intrinsic value of art as a catalyst for social change.

Master's Degrees

BA/MS Art Education Combined Degree Pathway
A combined degree pathway allows FSU students to complete the requirements for the undergraduate and graduate degrees in just 5 years. Students completing this degree are prepared as certified art teachers for public, private, and community locations. The degree incorporates state requirements to make the candidate eligible for K-12 certification in art in the state of Florida.

MS in Art Education - Teacher Certification
This degree prepares certified art teachers for public, private, and community locations. It provides comprehensive knowledge and skills in formal education systems. Certification requirements for teaching and administration are incorporated to make the candidate eligible for K-12 certification in art in the state of Florida.

MS in Art Education - Professional Development
This degree invites students to participate in a scholarly community that allows the exchange of ideas, the cultivation of expertise, and the opportunity to connect theory and practice. Students engage in art making, curriculum development, and the study and critique of contemporary issues impacting the field. Most students complete this degree online.
Doctoral Degrees

Ed.D. in Art Education
This fully online degree prepares professionals in the application of appropriate and specific practices, the generation of new knowledge, and stewardship of the profession. Students are aided in identifying and developing solutions to problems that impact their field.

Ph.D. in Art Education
The purpose of this degree is to produce leaders in instruction, research, and administration and to encourage students to make a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in their field. Students are supported in their efforts to investigate and advance understanding related to innovative applications of research, based on individual student interests.
