Arts administration is the dynamic study of the integration of nonprofit leadership within all types of cultural organizations. Intent on achieving our mission, we aim to educate aspiring cultural leaders about the practice and theory of socially responsible arts administration. Arts Administration is open to individuals with a prior degree in Art, Arts Education, Arts Administration, Performing Arts, or a related field. Graduate Degrees

MA in Arts Administration
The MA in Arts Administration program prepares graduates with the knowledge, tools, and competencies necessary for leadership in managing various types of cultural organizations and sustaining a vibrant creative ecosystem in diverse communities. The program curriculum combines practice and theory with discussion-based courses, community-engaged experiential learning experiences, and highly engaged faculty.

Ph.D. in Arts Administration
The Ph.D. in Art Education with a major in Arts Administration encourages students to make significant contributions to the body of knowledge related to arts administration. This degree is focused on a high level of scholarly research with the goal of becoming an expert in the field.
Ongoing Research
Faculty in the art education program are actively engaged in research involving: k-12 environments, curriculum & instruction, art making, qualitative methodologies, and more. Below is a summary of active research projects. These areas of inquiry may be helpful to guide doctoral students in their selection of major professors. Student Experiences

Internships
Arts Administration students complete internships at cultural institutions of their choice. Students have collaborated locally with: the Tallahassee Ballet, the Challenger Learning Center, and the Museum of Florida History, as well as nationally recognized museums and arts organizations, including the National Repertory Orchestra, the Museum of Chinese in America, and Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts.

Collaboration
Students collaborate with faculty on service, research, and teaching activites, participating as colleagues in the life of our department.

Research Dissemination
Students are supported in the development and dissemination of research. Funding support to attend national and international conferences is available.
