Dr. Barbara Parker-Bell, Director of the FSU Art Therapy Program in the Department of Art Education and College of Fine Arts, is pleased to continue her collaborative work with art therapy specialists of the Russian Federation thanks to a grant from the State Department of the US Government. The funded project, Learning from COVID 19 Experiences, will foster collaboration among US and Russian professionals as they explore best art therapy practices to support resilience in youth and family recovery from the pandemic.

The following Russian organizations will partner with FSU and the Department of Art Education on this project: The National Association for Development of Art Therapy Science and Practice: Art Therapy Association;” Igor Burganov’s Academy of Arts in Moscow; the Professional Plus Counseling and Training Center in Samara; and the Alla Streltsova Mental Health Center in Volgograd. The project activities will include an on-line professional conference, an online exhibit, and 3 related regional art exhibits. In early 2022, these exhibits will be open to the public on the FSU campus in Tallahassee and 2 community gallery spaces in Samara and Volgograd, Russia.

The project is being funded by the State Department of the US Government. The aim of the funded program is to facilitate greater understanding of shared values between Russia and the USA and to strengthen opportunities for positive collaboration on topics of mutual interest.
