The Department of Interior Architecture and Design and the Department of Art Education are both pleased to announce the appointment of new Interim Chairs.
After many years of outstanding service to the Department, current Interior Architecture and Design Chair Lisa Waxman is retiring. We are grateful for her time in the position and wish her well on her future endeavors. Dr. Jill Pable will be taking over for her in the role of “Department Chair in Waiting.” Starting in January 2020, Pable will fully assume her role as Department Chair. Faculty members stood in unanimous support of Dr. Pable, who holds B.S. and M.F.A. degrees in Interior Design and a Ph.D. degree in Instructional Technology with specialization in architecture. She is an NCIDQ-certified interior designer and a WELL accredited professional and WELL faculty member. She has taught interior architecture & design courses for 23 years including architectural lighting, studio, theory, and graduate seminars.
Dr. Antonio C. Cuyler, Associate Professor of Arts Administration & Coordinator of the MA program, is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Department of Art Education alongside Jeff Broome. With Broome stepping down from the position, the Department is pleased to welcome Dr. Cuyler as the Interim Department Chair. Dr. Cuyler, who joined the faculty at Florida State University in the Department of Art Education in the Fall of 2012, holds a B.M./ES degree in Voice & Foreign Languages, a M.A. in Arts Administration, and a Ph.D. in Art Education/ Arts Administration. He is a 2017 recipient of the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Diversity & Inclusion Award, the College of Fine Arts’ inaugural Teaching Award, and the inaugural winner of the President’s Choice Award given by the Tallahassee Young Professionals Network for professional accomplishments and community engagement.
We are most grateful to Dr. Pable and Dr. Cuyler for their willingness to take on this important service. Please join us in thanking and congratulating them both.
